Medical Providers

As of January 1, 2023, Dr. Balzer's practice will be scaling back to patients 65 years of age and older as well as no longer seeing nursing home patients. All other patients will be scheduled with or transitioned to our nurse practitioners.

    Dr. Balzer, a native of Hooker, Oklahoma, returned to the Panhandle area where he formerly practiced medicine in Hooker, Oklahoma, Hugoton and Liberal, Kansas. Graduating from Panhandle A & M College, he then attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, where he served as the Chief Flight Surgeon in the USAF. Dr. Balzer also taught at the School of Healthcare Sciences and received an Air Force Commendation Medal. Following a residency in Family Medicine at Scott AFB Regional Hospital, he served as Chief Resident and later obtained added Qualification in Geriatrics. He served as Chairman of the Family Medicine Department of BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, Chief of Staff of the Covenant Hospital of Plainview, Texas, and most recently as Medical Director of the Senior Health Center of Edmond OU. Dr. Balzer received the Top Doctor Award for Geriatrics in Edmond for five consecutive years, and will bring his superior skill set in Geriatrics to the Panhandle. He held the position as Chief of Medicine at the OU Edmond Hospital for several years, and has a special interest in the care of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.

    Other interests of Dr. Balzer’s include astronomy, playing the guitar, banjo, and teaching theology. He was the primary author of the Right to Life Amendment for the Southern Baptist Convention of Texas and was a contributing producer for the ACU film, Choosing Life, the history of the pro-life movement.

  • Kim Wadley

    Kim was born and raised in Gruver, Texas.  She is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Kim attended graduate school at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.  Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Kim had 26 years of clinical experience in maternal/infant and emergency medicine.  She is a member of the Association of Oklahoma Nurse Practitioners.  For the last five years, Kim has been the Director of Nursing at Panhandle Counseling and Health Center.  Kim and her husband Grant, enjoy time with family and friends as well as traveling and spending time at the lake.

    Kim will be providing care to patients of all ages.  She has a special interest in integrative and holistic modalities.  The fields of holistic and integrative medicine designate themselves as ones that address patients’ physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, social and environmental well-being. Along with traditional approaches, holistic and integrative medicine can include methods such as acupressure, healing touch, herbal therapy, and nutritional counseling.

  • Tasha Herrera

    Tasha Herrera was raised in Tyrone, Oklahoma. She is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Chamberlain University. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Tasha has had experience in labor and delivery, community health, and family practice over the previous 10 years. For the past 3 years, Tasha has been a staff nurse at Panhandle Counseling and Health Center. Tasha enjoys spending time with her family, her animals, and going camping. 

    Tasha will be providing care to patients of all ages. She believes in the importance of patient-centered care and collaborative decision-making with patients based on current evidence-based practice.

  • Selene Garcia-Van Camp

    Selene Garcia-Van Camp was raised in Canadian, TX, but has made Guymon, OK her home for the last 10 years. Selene is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is licensed under the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Selene obtained her graduate education from Maryville University. Prior to that, Selene attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University where she obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Over the last 10 years, Selene has gained experience in labor and delivery, public health nursing, and geriatrics as a registered nurse. Selene has been with Panhandle Counseling and Health Center since 2020 and is excited to continue to provide healthcare services in English and Spanish to our community. Selene and her husband enjoy many outdoor activities and love to spend time in the mountains.
    Selene will be providing care to patients of all ages. She believes in using a holistic approach when treating patients while basing treatment on evidence-based-practice.
