Dr. Pernokas

Dr. Mark Pernokas was born and raised in Woburn, Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Woburn High School, a recipient of a Bachelor Arts and Science degree in Biology from Boston University, holds his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the Boston University School of Dental Medicine, and is Board Certified through both the National and the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners. Following his graduation, Dr. Pernokas embarked on his clinical career as an associate dentist at Professional Dental Associates of Warwick, Rhode Island, where he practiced for a period of three years. In 1989, he returned home to Woburn, and established Advanced Dental Associates of New England, a clinical private practice focused on delivering patient-centered, comprehensive dental medicine.

For the past three decades, Dr. Pernokas has continued to hone is professional skills through advanced education, including but not limited to, concentrations in: Aesthetic Dentistry, Advanced Root Canal Therapy, Implant Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, and Forensic Medicine. His professional memberships and affiliations include: The American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and The Yankee Dental Congress. He has been a participant in the “Give Kids a Smile” out-reach program and the Boston University Student Mentor Program. He has also been acknowledged as a post-911 forensics volunteer.

Dr. Pernokas proudly serves his third term as President of the New England Medical Hellenic and Dental Society, is the current President of the Georgitsianon Society of America, is a “Lifetime Member” of the Greek Institute, and maintains and active membership in The Alpha Omega Council, and the Boston Order of AHEPA.

Dr. Pernokas is a 2017 recipient of the George Dilboy Humanitarian Award for which he was recognized for his contributions to the Greek-American community.

His personal interests include spending time with his family, skiing, cooking, fishing, and golfing.

George Dilboy Humanitarian Award


Dr. Pernokas has been honored with the George Dilboy Humanitarian Award.

George Dilboy was a WWI Greek-American hero and a native of Somerville and was the first Greek-American to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was born in 1896 in Alatsata, Asia Minor and fought in both the first and second Balkan wars for the Greek Army. After his emigration to the United States, he fought for his adopted country in World War I. He lost his life in a heroic battle in 1918 at the young age of 22.

Dr. Pernokas received the Dilboy Humanitarian award in recognition for his contribution to the Greek-American community. Dr. Pernokas currently serves his third term as the President of the New England Hellenic Medical and Dental Society. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Council and sits on the selection committee for the Lifetime Achievement award recipient. He is the President of the Georgitsianon Society of America, and is a “Lifetime Member” of the Greek Institute. He also maintains and active membership in the Boston Order of the AHEPA.

The award was presented to him on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Somerville in conjunction with a Veteran’s Day celebration.
