What dental implants can do for you
Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically inserted into the jaws to replace missing tooth roots. It is a reconstructive and cosmetic procedure that creates stability, reinforces teeth, and prevents the weakening and shrinkage of the jawbone. Once implants have been initially installed into the jaw, your dentist seals the area and allows for a period of osseointegration (i.e. the process by which bone fuses to the titanium post) to take place, generally taking 3 to 6 months to complete.
After this time, you will come back to our Spokane Valley office so that your dentist can insert a screw to the implant, an abutment above the screw, and, finally, a crown on top that matches the rest of your teeth.
