Your Orthodontic Options

Here are the different kinds of braces our orthodontic team offers.

The benefits associated with orthodontic treatment can last you or your child the rest of their lives, making it a great investment for anyone looking to get a straighter and healthier smile from Dr. Mark Allen. Whether you want your teen to feel more confident for their senior pictures or you want to improve your smile, braces can help people get the smiles they want and the confidence, too!

Here are the most common and popular orthodontic treatment options:

Traditional Metal Braces

These braces are rather popular because they are able to correct more significant and serious dental issues. In fact, there really isn’t a dental problem that traditional braces can't fix. From severe crookedness and crowding to large gaps and protruding teeth, these braces can fix all of these problems to give you a straighter smile.

Treatment time: The length of treatment will vary depending on the extent of your dental issues. The average length of time is between 6 months and two years.

Traditional Clear Braces

If you have serious dental issues that need traditional braces you may also opt for a more discreet option. Instead of metal brackets, clear or tooth-colored brackets are bonded to the front of your teeth. The wires may also be tooth-colored or metal, but the result is a less visible set of braces. This is a great option for adults who don't want their braces to be quite as visible when they smile.

Invisalign - Removable Aligners

This is a great option for our teen and adult patients who are dealing with milder to moderate issues. Invisalign aligners are custom-made to fit over your upper and lower teeth but can be removed prior to eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. They are far less noticeable than traditional braces and easily fit into your lifestyle without having to make a lot of changes.

Treatment time: This varies, but the average adult will get results in about one year, while it can take up to two years for teens.

Of course, in order to make sure that you get the results you want you will need to wear your aligners as much as possible (about 20-22 hours each day). Patients who don’t think they will be disciplined about wearing their aligners may want to consider other orthodontic options.
