CEREC Same Day Crowns

You can have a new custom dental crown applied in just one appointment with CEREC same day crowns. There is no 0401095001555445241.jpgwaiting several weeks for the crown to be created. Everything is done at the dentist’s office in a single visit. At Park Dental Wellness, located in Burton, MI, Dr. Linda Park provides patients with CEREC same day crowns.

How CEREC Works

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC utilizes both computer-aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) technology to create new ceramic crowns in one day. This technology takes a 3D digital image of the damaged tooth. That digital image manufactures the custom ceramic crown within the CEREC milling unit. As soon as the new crown is ready, it is cemented onto the damaged tooth by your Burton dentist. Afterward, your tooth will be fully restored.

Benefits of CEREC

CEREC technology offers many benefits to patients, the biggest being that damaged teeth can be restored in a single appointment. In the past, patients often waited several weeks for new crowns to be created. A physical impression of a patient’s teeth was made and sent away to a dental lab to be created. Once the crowns were completed, they were shipped back to the dentist’s office. Thus creating a lengthy and drawn out process. With CEREC same day crowns, patients can enjoy restored teeth without the wait.

The modern technology offered and utilized by CEREC, especially the digital imaging technology, is highly beneficial to patients. Before CEREC, dentists created a physical mold or impression of a patient’s teeth for creating the custom crowns. These physical molds can be uncomfortable for some patients. The molded material is messy and can cause a gagging sensation in some patients if there is too much of the material used. With CEREC, the former messiness and discomfort of creating a physical mold are eliminated.
