Renew Your Smile With Veneers

Are veneers the cosmetic restoration you’ve been looking for.

From slight gaps between teeth to discolorations, there are many imperfections that may be keeping you from the smile you know you deserve. Luckily, our Timonium, MD, dentist Dr. Paul Karpovich can help. Dr. Karpovich prides himself on offering beautiful, lifelike porcelain veneers to give you the transformational cosmetic dentistry you’ve been looking for.

Over time, teeth can dull. When this happens, this can affect your smile’s appearance. Veneers are thin porcelain shells that are created to cover the front surface of one or more teeth. These thin, tooth-colored shells are then adhered to the front of your teeth to alter how the tooth looks. These porcelain shells mimic the look of real tooth enamel, so they will provide you with natural, beautiful results.

When are veneers a good option?

There are so many treatment options that our Timonium, MD, cosmetic dentist offers to give you the smile you want. Dental veneers are a great option if you are dealing with discolored, chipped, cracked or misshapen teeth. Veneers can also cover gaps between teeth and make teeth that are slightly crooked appear straighter without needing braces.

What is involved in getting dental veneers?

The first step is for our dentist to evaluate your teeth to make sure veneers are a good fit. We will go through the treatment process with you and check to make sure your teeth are healthy and strong enough to support veneers. We will also ask you questions about your treatment goals to make sure that veneers will be able to give you what you’re looking for. Once we’ve determined that you are an ideal candidate for veneers, we will need to prepare your teeth.

Tooth preparation for veneers is very minimal. This is painless and usually doesn’t even require local anesthesia. We will usually shave no more than 0.5mm of enamel from the front of your teeth to make room for these thin porcelain shells. Impressions are taken of your teeth and sent to a dental lab. The lab will then customize each veneer to fit each tooth in your treatment plan. It can take a couple of weeks to make your veneers and once they are made you can come back in for a final fitting where we will bond the veneers permanently to your tooth.
