What are veneers?
Dental veneers are very thin shells made from tooth-colored medical-grade porcelain. Porcelain is an amazing material for creating dental restorations because they are strong, stain-resistant, and look just like real tooth enamel, so no one will ever be able to tell that you have dental veneers. Each veneer is custom-crafted to cover the front of a tooth to improve its appearance.
What issues can dental veneers address?
Since a veneer is designed to fully cover the entire front surface of a tooth it can hide a variety of dental imperfections including,

What is the treatment process like?
Getting dental veneers is pretty simple and can be completed in about two separate visits. Once our Pittsburg, KS, cosmetic dentist has examined your smile and determined that you are right for veneers then your teeth are prepped to receive the veneers. This requires us to shave down about 0.5mm of enamel from the front of your teeth. Sometimes local anesthesia is administered prior, but in some cases, anesthesia isn’t even needed.
Once the teeth have been shaped we will also take impressions of your teeth. Temporary veneers may be placed to protect and cover your teeth until your permanent veneers are made. Once your veneers have been made and are ready (this can take up to 3-4 weeks) you will come back into the office where we will check the shape and fit of your veneers before applying them to the front of your teeth using a special tooth-colored dental resin that we harden permanently to the tooth with a special light.
