Welcome to Grand Oaks Dental

Dr. Gabrielle F. Cannick is a native of Charleston, SC, and graduated in 2001 with a B.S. in Biology from Furman University. After completing a rigorous eight-year dual-degree program at the Medical University of South Carolina, she graduated in 2009 with both a doctorate in dental medicine and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology. Her dissertation focused on the prevention and early detection of oral cancer in South Carolina.

A strong believer that dental fear and anxiety should not prevent any patient from receiving the highest quality dental care, Dr. Cannick has received extensive training in and is a certified member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. She is also a member of the South Carolina Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health.

Dr. Cannick is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, and is a certified HealthyStart Provider. As a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), the only non-profit professional association dedicated exclusively to the practice of dental sleep medicine, Dr. Cannick helps treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy, an effective treatment that is covered by most insurance plans. AADSM membership provides Dr. Cannick with access to educational resources and practice management tools that help her better serve her patients by providing the highest quality of care in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Cannick previously worked as an associate dentist in Charleston with her father, Dr. Larry J. Ferguson, president of the South Carolina Dental Association from 2006-2007. Since relocating to Anderson, SC she has been a former volunteer dentist with the Anderson Free Clinic, supporter of Meals on Wheels of Anderson, a proud Girl Scout Troop Leader, and serves as a Co-Children's leader with her church, Willing Servant Ministries. Dr. Cannick is on the Board of Visitors at Tri-County Technical College, the Foothills Community Foundation Board of Directors, and enjoys mentoring dental students through the MINTS (Mentoring is Navigating Together Strongly) program at the MUSC JBE College of Dental Medicine.  She and her husband, Dr. Leander Cannick, III, a radiation oncologist, have four daughters and one son. 

Tequa joined our team in 2015, and wears several hats: office manager, dental assistant and dental sleep medicine coordinator. Tequa's bubbly personality always fills the office with laughter!

Pamela joined Grand Oaks Dental in 2013. Her responsibilities include scheduling, billing and insurance needs.  We appreciate her commitment to our office and patients!

Kayla joined our office in 2020. She is our patient care coordinator, and also assists Tequa with our dental sleep patients. Kayla is always willing to lend a helping hand in the office!

Trish joined our team in 2020 as an expanded duties dental assistant. We appreciate her enthusiastic personality and compassion for patients!

Abby joined our team as one of our registered dental hygienists in 2020. Her sweet personality and attention to detail is an asset to our dental team!

Angela has worked in our office since 2019 as a registered dental hygienist. We are glad to have her as a member of our dental team!
