The Benefits of Dental Bonding

The Benefits of Dental Bonding

Bluff Creek Dental knows how important it is for patients of all ages to have a confident, healthy smile. As such, our Chanhassen practice offers a wide variety of services, like dental bonding, to help you achieve the beautifully enhanced grin you desire.

What is Bonding Used For?

Comprehensive dental bonding treats minor spacing irregularities, discoloration, cracks, and chips in the teeth. Bonding can also be used for simple cosmetic improvements, like making teeth longer or altering their shape. At Bluff Creek Dental, our dental bonding services are simple, inexpensive, and dramatically improve your smile after just one trip to our Chanhassen office.

The Dental Bonding Process

Unlike veneers and dental crowns, dental bonding is a quick procedure that uses tooth-colored materials to replace the patient’s damaged areas. After determining your personalized treatment plan, Dr. Birgit Schold will begin the procedure by cleaning the target area, ensuring there is no plaque on the surface of the teeth. Then the composite resin bonding material will be matched to the current shade of your teeth. Following, the surface of the tooth is “etched” with a tooth roughing gel and coated lightly with a conditioning treatment to ensure the bonding materials stick to the tooth. And finally, the matching composite resin shade is applied and is molded to match the structure of your teeth. Once the molding is dry and hardened by using a special ultraviolet light, Dr. Schold will put the final touches on the bond by shaping and polishing it until optimal results are achieved.

Advantages of Dental Bonding

In addition to being one of the easiest and most cost-effective cosmetic dentistry procedures, dental bonding offers many other advantages, such as:

  • Little to no removal of tooth enamel
  • No anesthesia, unless the bond is filling a cavity
  • Only one, 30-60 minute visit to complete treatment
  • A dental bond that, with proper care, can last 3-10 years

Contact Our Chanhassen Office Today

Just like normal teeth, dental bonds need to be brushed and flossed daily, and professionally cleaned by a dentist twice a year. If you are interested in dental bonding, or have questions about any of our other services like dental crowns or veneers, do not hesitate to contact us at our Chanhassen office.
