Mariela Ontiveros PA-C is originally from the Rio Grande Valley living most of her life in Mission, Texas and graduated salutatorian from Mission High School in 2006.  She attended the University of Texas A&M University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a second Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Texas Pan American.  Most recently she graduated from the University of Rio Grande Valley with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She has varying degrees of clinical experience and was involved greatly with the organizations she participated in.

She helped to induct and became president of her academic sorority Lambda Theta Nu while at Texas A&M. She also participated in many volunteer projects like Big Event and A Relay for Life.  While at the University of Texas Pan American she received various awards for her academic endeavors, which include The Dolores and James Parrot Award in recognition of her professionalism and the Outstanding Student Award for Academic and Leadership Achievement from the College of Health Sciences and Human Services.  She was also secretary and president of her Clinical Laboratory Science club where she again participated in volunteer projects.  She is very involved with her new career and spends most of her time brushing up on her studies or reading for fun.  She is excited to begin her career and give back to the community by providing excellent healthcare to the children of the Valley.
