What is the bump in my arch?

Image result for feet pictures

Some people develop bumps in their arch and most commonly they are plantar fibromas.  A plantar fibroma is a nodule that forms within the plantar fascia, and they are often painful.  We think they develop from an initial tear in the fascia that then cause scar tissue to form around the tear.  They can often be treated by different ways of offloading to help decrease pain.

Lumps, bumps, or nodules in the foot are never normal.  Sometimes more advanced imaging is necessary to evaluate these further and determine the best ways to treat them.  If you are experiencing any pain or problems in your foot or ankle, call of Colorado Springs Podiatry office at 719-488-4664, so we can help you today!
