Tooth loss, whether a result of periodontal disease or other factors, always leads to bone loss. Without teeth, the bone resorbs or shrinks and becomes thin and weak. Many patients require bone grafting to qualify for tooth replacement with dental implants. Our implant dentist, Dr. Bill Cartee, has a vast experience in bone grafting procedures along with advanced grafting techniques, including ridge augmentation and sinus lifts. Bone graft is either obtained from the patient or from a donor source and adding it to areas of the haw that have resorbed to rebuild its natural structure. Dental implants can be placed simultaneously with bone grafting or after a healing period.
