Allison B. Robbins, MD

Board Certified Pediatrician

Joined HPA: 2017

Residency: Children's Hospital & Research Center, Oakland CA

Medical School: University if California, San Francisco

Undergrad: Duke University, North Carolina

Dr. Robbins took a circuitous path to HPA and feels very fortunate to now call the Pioneer Valley, and HPA, her home. She was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and went to college in North Carolina, where she studied Biomedical and Electrical Engineering. She worked for a few years as an engineer doing medical imaging before she moved west to start medical school in San Francisco. She fell in love with the Bay Area, and stayed for her Pediatrics residency in Oakland, California. After several years in Oakland working as a Pediatric Hospitalist, her family moved back to the Midwest, in part to be closer to family as they had their first child. They spent almost three years in Chicago (where Dr. Robbins continued to work as a Pediatric Hospitalist) before making the move to the Pioneer Valley. In the couple of years prior to her move east, Dr. Robbins decided she wanted to become a primary care physician. She realized that this would allow her to continue to care for children while getting to watch them and their families grow over time. She is particularly drawn to HPA’s diversity and mission. Dr. Robbins has always enjoyed living and working in diverse communities, where we can all learn from each other and help each other grow.

Dr. Robbins believes every child deserves a chance to grow up in a healthy environment. She believes healthy habits start early and help to prevent illness later, so enjoys talking to families about nutrition, sleep, activity, and safety. She has done a great deal of newborn care in her years as a Hospitalist and has a particular interest in supporting new parents. Dr. Robbins also believes in training the next generation of physicians, and has been involved in resident and medical student education since finishing her residency in 2009.

Dr. Robbins is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

She lives with her wife and 2 daughters in Northampton. She enjoys being active outside (cycling, swimming, hiking, camping), traveling, knitting, and listening to live music.

Dr. Robbins sees patients 2.5 days a week in our Holyoke office.
