When you’re experiencing pain from your bunions, it’s important that you discuss it with your podiatrist so that they can help you create a treatment plan to ease your discomfort. Dr. Timothy Mason, Dr. Jason Hancock, and Dr. Travis Johnson at Foot & Ankle Specialists of Orlando in Oviedo, FL, Lake Mary, FL, Orlando, FL, and Downtown Orlando, can help you discover how you can ease pain caused by bunions.

Dealing with Bunion Pain

Bunions shouldn’t cause you too much pain but when bunions rub against shoes or you’re spending a long time on your feet, they can become sore and irritated. There are ways that you can treat the symptoms caused by bunions so that you can start feeling comfortable in your daily life and you won’t have to worry about bunion pain as often.

You should be wearing shoes that properly fit and aren’t too tight. This will help reduce the amount of pain that you may experience throughout the day. You can also wear inserts to help with your arch and you can wear pads on the side of your feet to avoid friction. It may also help to ice your feet for 15 minutes a day and take anti-inflammatory medications.

In severe cases, you may need surgery to shave down the extra bone and realign your foot.
