Opened in 2013, the Chicago Dental Society (CDS) Foundation Clinic provides primary dental care at no cost to patients who demonstrate need and reside in Cook, Lake, or DuPage counties.

Where is the Clinic Located?
The clinic is located in the Wheaton Oaks Professional Building at 416 East Roosevelt Road in Wheaton.  This professional building is one block east of Naperville Road, and provides ample parking for both patients and volunteers in an adjacent lot.  The office is also accessible by the #747 Pace bus, which also stops at Wheaton's Metra Train station.

Who will be served?
The CDS Foundation Clinic serves the residents of Cook, Lake, and DuPage counties.  In order to be eligible for treatment patients must fulfill the following requirements:

  • they must have proof of residency in one of these three counties
  • they must be unable to get dental insurance
  • they must show proof of income no greater than 200% of the poverty level

What services will be provided?
Licensed volunteer dentists and hygienists will provide basic primary dental care aimed at alleviating pain and restoring oral health with a holistic approach to oral health education.  Treatment will be provided with compassion and cultural sensitivity in a cordial clinical setting.  Services include oral examinations, dental cleanings, x-rays, dental fillings, and basic extractions.  The clinic manager will provide patients with information on referrals to other facilities for more extensive dental treatment, such as root canals, crowns, bridges, dentures, and others.

I'm in the dental profession.  How can I get volunteer and get involved?

  • The CDS Foundation Clinic needs dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants to volunteer.  This can be any combination of all-day, mornings, afternoons.
  • The Clinic also needs disposable dental supplies, as well as in-kind donations of dental handpieces, instruments, and other small dental equipment.
  • The Clinic also needs financial donations to support our operations.  The CDS Foundation Clinic LLC is a charitable 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

A bit of history of the organization from the Hope's Front Door website:
"In 2000, the Downers Grove Area Hope's Front Door was formed by six local churches, the LOVE Christian Clearinghouse and several community members who sensed a great need of residents underserved in our communities. Initially, we operated independently under the wing of nonprofit LOVE Christian Clearinghouse, supplying vouchers for food, transportation, car repair and lodging to clients seeking assistance in our six-community service area: Darien, Downers Grove, Lisle, Westmont, Willowbrook and Woodridge.
As we broadened our face-to-face services, it became apparent that we could better serve our clients and seek funding from a broader range of community members by operating independently of LOVE. We incorporated in the State of Illinois as the Walk-In Ministry of Hope on November 21, 2003. We applied to the Internal Revenue Service and received our 501(c)(3) nonprofit determination letter dated April 30, 2004.
Our organization continues to strive to provide more comprehensive services to meet the overall needs of our clients. Our goal is to help community members toward self-sufficiency through several means. Hope's Front Door is not a religious organization. We are a community resource or an instrument in which to “minister” to or serve those in need of assistance."
