MIDWEST ENT UPDATE 9/29/2020

As we approach fall and winter, we wish to update you on your ear nose and throat health. We recommend that you have your humidifiers inspected and cleaned. If you don't have one, this may be a good time to purchase. When heaters go on, so should humidifiers. In addition, nasal saline sprays and netty pots often times aid in healthy noses and throats. It is becoming increasingly well known how important good nasal breathing is for our overall health. I am sending a link to a recent story aired on CBS News, featuring James Nestor, author of the recent book, "Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art". It is very insightful and I hope you enjoy it.

We continue to take very strict COVID precautions. We have had no cases as a result anyone coming to our office or having surgery with us at Northwestern Hospital.
Flu season is rapidly approaching and strongly encourage the flu vaccine.
We are very pleased with our results of the Inspire(inspiresleep.com)procedure for sleep apnea. This has proven to be an excellent outpatient procedure for those who are not getting good results with CPAP.
As always, we offer a full range of services for your hearing health. We provide the most current technology for testing your hearing and providing the most appropriate hearing aids for each individual.
Please feel free to call the office(312-988-7777) for further information on all of the above or to set up an appointment. You may also send individual emails through our patient portal.

Wishing you all good health and safety,

Gordon J. Siegel, M.D.,FACS

What Does an ENT Specialist Do?

Dr. Gordon Siegel is an otolaryngologist at Midwest ENT in Chicago, IL, who specializes in conditions that affect your ears, nose, and throat. Most people in the Chicago, IL, area understand ENT care as a treatment for allergies and sinus problems, but Dr. Siegel provides many other services.

Hearing Tests

Did you know that ears, nose, and throat specialists help with hearing problems? Dr. Siegel offers auditory testing to determine how well you hear in different situations, such as noisy environments and quiet rooms. The tests may also detect ringing in your ears. If you have hearing loss, Dr. Siegel diagnoses the underlying cause, such as damage to your ear drum or the effects of aging, and helps you find the best hearing aid.

Head and Neck Procedures

Some medical conditions require surgery to repair the anatomical structures in your ears, nose, and throat. Dr. Siegel performs surgical procedures on the sinuses, voice, tonsils, and nose. He also treats head and neck cancers.

Sleep Apnea

Are you struggling with a sleep disorder? Sleep apnea is a condition that is caused by abnormalities in your airway. As an ENT, Dr. Siegel provides the expert care you need to sleep better. He may recommend the SomnoGuard® oral appliance to keep the airway open, sinus surgery to repair a deviated septum or other treatment.

Speech and Voice Disorders

Laryngitis, acid reflux, speech impairments, and a raspy voice may indicate a problem with your airway and vocal cords. These conditions affect children, teens, adults, and seniors. Dr. Siegel diagnoses your speech and voice disorder and recommends a treatment that remedies the problem. Abnormalities cause some voice issues in the vocal cords, such as cysts, polyps, and nodules, which can be removed with surgery.
