Why do my upper molars hurt, Doc?

Spring is here and summer is upon us. During my 33 years in practice this is the time of year I've seen dozens of patients come complaining of upper molar pain. Sometimes their physician refers them or they come to me first. So what's happening now. Well, it's allergy season. So here's what we have to figure out. Is it a real toothache or is it a congested sinus transfering pain to those molars. The Maxillary Sinus lies directly above the uppers molars and if they get congested they can transfer pressure or pain to those molars. So first it's important to xray and thoroghly examine those teeth. If the teeth appear healthy then it is possible the sinus is the culprit causing the discomfort. The position of the sinus can be more clearly seen on a Panorex xray. So you may have to return to the physician, with a clean dental bill of health but necessary to get treatment for your congested sinus. So if this is occuring come on in to the office and let's figure it out. Don't treat yourself. better safe than sorry.

This is my first blog of many more to come. Bringing you informative and educational dental information from the office of Dr. Marvin Brody.
