What Aging Issues Does Botox Treat?

Get your burning questions about Botox answered by the pros.

Looking for a simple, non-invasive way to smooth away those new lines you see on your face? By now, you’ve probably heard of Botox. After all, it’s one of the most popular cosmetic procedures our Bend, OR, cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Gerald Peters, offers. Of course, we understand that you might have questions about Botox, so we’ve compiled our FAQs to help you decide whether Botox is right for you.

What Is Botox?

Botox is one of the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic treatments on the market today, and it’s giving both men and women a more youthful appearance. This FDA-approved injectable administers a purified, medical-grade form of a neurotoxin known as botulinum toxin A. This toxin will temporarily relax the muscles, preventing them from contracting. This, in turn, smooths away certain wrinkles and lines.

What Aging Issues Does Botox Treat?

Botox is perfect for treating dynamic lines and wrinkles on the face. These are the wrinkles that become more visible when smiling or frowning such as,

  • Crow’s feet (lines around the eyes)
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Lines between the eyebrows
  • Nasolabial folds (lines around the nose and mouth)

How Does It Work?

Getting Botox is relatively simple, and it only takes a couple of minutes to administer. The needles are incredibly thin, so you shouldn’t feel any more than a slight pinch; however, some of our more sensitive patients may request numbing ointment. We can also numb the area before administering Botox if you’d feel more comfortable.

Will I See Results Right Away?

Botox isn’t like dermal fillers, so you won’t see results immediately. Instead, you’ll notice changes to the smoothness of your skin over the next three to four days after treatment, with full results being achieved within a week.

How Long Will My Results Last?

Everyone metabolizes Botox differently. We find those younger patients who start getting Botox early see results for up to six months, but the average is three to four months. The good news is that if you love your new look, our Bend, OR, dermatologist Dr. Peters can set up a treatment plan where you come in every six months for a refresh.
