Our group of seven board-certified pediatricians are committed to your child's health and well being. Our physicians treat or care for newborns, infants, children and adolecents. Their clinical interests include newborn medicine and infant care; eating disorders; gastroenterology; asthma management; pediatric hematology, rheumatology and immunology; developmental pediatrics including ADHD; obesity; sports medicine, and pediatric fitness. Our two Physician's Assistants have extensive experience in pediatric emergency medicine, asthma, wound care and nephrology.
In addition to routine well child care and appointments to evaluate your children when they are ill, the physicians at Pediatric Associates are available for consultations. Some of the different types of consultations provided are: ADHD, Asthma, surgical clearance, etc.
PRENATAL CARE
If you are expecting a baby and are new to our practice, we would like to invite you to a free evening group prenatal information session with one of our board-certified pediatricians. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what to expect in the hospital. Please contact our office for more information.
WELL CHILD CARE
The cornerstone of our work at Pediatric Associates is your child’s wellbeing. Our goal is to partner with you in providing your children with all the tools they need to grow and develop to their fullest potential. As such, we follow the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for periodic Well Child visits. During these visits we measure and weigh your child to track their growth. We also access their development and assist you with parenting and safety guidelines. In accordance with the AAP guidelines, we routinely schedule Well Child visits at the following ages: 1-2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, and then yearly thereafter. During these visits we also ensure that your child receives the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommended vaccines to prevent childhood illnesses.

SICK CHILD CARE
We know that there is never a good time for your child to be ill. Unfortunately, most children will get ill at some point. For example, the average toddler will have seven viral illnesses per year. The physicians of Pediatric Associates offer appointments to evaluate your children every day of the week, most evenings, and every holiday except Christmas (the only day we do not open our office). We understand how having an ill child impacts your family, your work, and your lives. We have taken considerable measures to meet the needs of you and your ill child. There is no need to take your child to an unfamiliar healthcare provider at an Urgent Care Facility when your doctors who know your children and their history are available 364 days a year.
We provide laboratory services in our office so we can evaluate your child at the time of the appointment. With our lab we can obtain routine blood work, rapid strep tests and follow-up throat cultures, rapid flu tests, urine analysis and urine culture, and blood glucose levels.
In our treatment room, we provide many pediatric procedures, including suturing lacerations, suture and staple removal, foreign body removal, evaluation of eye injuries and corneal abrasions, wound and burn care. Before you go to the emergency room, please call our office as we can frequently treat your child and eliminate an ER visit for your family.
SPECIAL NEEDS
We are pleased to introduce Eileen Rondeau, RN, BSN.
Eileen is a nurse care coordinator who works in our office every Thursday from the Northwest Regional Medical Home for Children and Youth with Special Needs.
Eileen provides care coordination which links children with special needs and their families to services and resources. The Medical Home partners with primary care providers, staff, and families to assure that all the medical and nonmedical needs of the patient are met. This can range from helping set up specialty appointments, finding support groups, workshops, camp resources, or finding help for behavior issues.
In addition Marni McNiff is a Health Information Specialist and Parent Advocate from PATH/Parent-to-Parent and Family Voices, a 501©3 nonprofit organization in Connecticut that is dedicated to helping families of children with all types of special needs. Marni is available to assist families with educational support and help prepare parents to be their own best advocate for their special needs child.

- Helping parents to understand their child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Helping parents prepare to advocate at Planning and Placement Team (PPT) and 504 meetings
- Providing information and resources on Birth-to-3 services, DDS, and Early Signs of Autism
- Providing assistance on how and when to get your child tested for academic and other concerns
- Helping finding specialists and support in your local area
- Utilizing PATH’s one-to-one parent-matching program, where we provide one to one parent support with a trained veteran parent whose has dealt with a similar situation/illness/diagnosis and understands what the family is going through.

ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common pediatric condition which can be successfully managed with a combination of medicines, behavioral therapy, and educational modifications. Approximately 10% of children have ADHD. If you, or your child's teacher, have concerns that your child cannot sit and focus in the classroom or while doing homework, schedule a consultation with us. With a combination of clinical assessment and clinical rating forms, your pediatrician can both diagnose and treat your child. We will help you formulate an educational plan with your child's school to address his/her's individual educational needs. In addition, we have an in-office educational advocate, Marni McNiff, who can help you navigate the school's educational protocol's. She will even attend school meetings with you and support you in advocating for your child's needs.
