Are wedge heels better than stilettos?
We absolutely recommend wedge heels to our patients over stilettos. A wedge heel gives a broader base of support by connecting the heel to the sole of the forefoot. By having a bigger surface area, you can walk much more stably than when trying to balance on a stiletto heel and just the front part of your shoe. No one can argue that a stiletto shoe is not more appealing when it is worn, but you must pick and choose your battles and a wedge heel can certainly help prevent falls. If you go on YouTube and click on models wearing heels, you can see many videos of fashion models, who wear heels for a living falling on the runway because the stiletto did not give them the appropriate support of their feet and ankles.
