Questions About Arthritis

Over the years many patients have come into the office and have complained that they have been told or they think that they have arthritis in their feet as a cause of their pain. However, this is usually far from the truth. Many different foot conditions can cause pain in the feet, but it is rare to find significant arthritis in anyone's foot unless there was a significant traumatic injury in the past. Certain joints of the foot are prone to arthritis, especially the big toe joint, but very few other areas will have pain from arthritis.

Naturally, when we examine someone's foot completely, we determine any areas that may be suspect and by taking our digital X‑rays we can evaluate for any bony changes and to help find the cause of a patient's pain.

Once the cause of the pain is determined, prompt treatment can begin to relieve symptoms and get someone back into their normal life.
