Dr. Murphy is a 1981 graduate of North Dakota State University and a 1988 graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. In her continuing education, Dr. Murphy has completed courses in CPR, Periodontics, Oral Pathology, Cosmetic Dentistry, Anesthesia, Nitrous Oxide, Endodontics, Prosthodontics Occlusion, and Infection Control. In addition, she is a member of the Minnesota Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon-Honorary Dental Society.
What the letters mean after Dr. Murphy's name: MAGD: Dr. Murphy has earned the designation of 'Master' of the AGD (MAGD). She has completed a structured and demanding set of requirements. To attain the MAGD, Dr. Murphy must first have been a Fellow in the AGD (requiring a minimum of 500 continuing dental education credit hours, pass a comprehensive exam and have been an AGD member for three continuous years). After being a FELLOW, Dr. Murphy must then earn an additional 600 approved continuing education hours (including 400 hours of hands-on courses), while meeting minimum requirements in certain dental disciplines.
