Raleigh Children & Adolescents Medicine began in 1966 when Robert Fleming, MD opened a solo pediatric medical practice on Clark Avenue near Cameron Village. Read about our 50th anniversary celebration here.

Over the years, he was joined by Stephen Edwards, MD, Alan Goldman, MD, Marjorie Carr, MD, Leigh Lehan, MD, and Tom Sena, MD. Each of those have completed their pediatric careers and professional service to the health and well-being of children.

Debbie Maness, RCAM office manager for 42 years, also had a lot to do with steering our ship to keep us on the right course.

As founders, they established a pattern of practice that the people pictured below are working to continue today: patient-centered care based on the best available science, and a work experience that is balanced and meaningful.
