Our LGBTQ Reproductive Services

Learn more about the LGBTQ reproductive services we offer in and around Weston, FL.

If you are a same-sex couple or you are an LGBTQ+ individual who is interested in starting a family, you may be doing some research now to better understand your family planning options. Here at Florida Institute for Reproductive Sciences and Technologies, our physicians Dr. Minna Selub and Dr. Kimball Pomeroy have provided same-sex couples throughout South Florida and the rest of the state, including Jacksonville and Tampa areas, with a variety of LGBTQ-friendly reproductive services to help make their dreams of having a family a reality.

For Lesbian, Bisexual and Queer Couples

It’s important to understand all of your options when it comes to creating a family so you know which option is best for you and your partner. Two of the most common fertility options include intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Lesbian, bisexual, and queer couples can also opt for a sperm donor. The sperm donor could be someone they know personally or it can be an anonymous donor.

Before the insemination process, the sperm will first need to be analyzed to make sure it is viable. This same testing will also occur for donor eggs to make sure they are viable. IVF may be recommended for women who may be having trouble conceiving through insemination.

From choosing the right LGBTQ reproductive and family planning services to choosing a sperm donor, our Weston and South Florida, FL, physicians are here with you every step of the way. We guide you through the entire process so that you understand your options.

For Gay Men and Couples

Gay couples can choose from egg or embryo donation along with gestational surrogacy, in which a woman carries the child for the couple. Some couples decide to split insemination, which means that half sperm from one man and half sperm from the other man are combined to fertilize the egg. It’s important to recognize that this process does take time. Again, we will continue to guide and support you through every step of this process, answering questions and providing support and care whenever you need it to make this process as smooth as easy as possible.

For Transgender Individuals

If you are a transgender individual who is interested in having a family either now or in the future, you may wish to talk to our physicians about freezing eggs, sperm, or embryos before undergoing hormone therapy or surgery. While many transgender individuals have no trouble conceiving if you or your partner is having difficulty we do offer assisted reproductive services such as in-vitro fertilization and intrauterine insemination.
