While women will stop producing eggs as they get older, the uterus stays the same. This means that women can use donor eggs until age 50 to carry a child themselves. Of course, there are possible complications that result from carrying a child in your early 50s and beyond, so it’s important that you speak with our team if you are age 50 or older and are considering an egg donor. Anonymity is Common Among Egg Donors

Unless you know the egg donor personally, chances are good that your egg donor will be unknown to you. That’s because most egg donors are anonymous. But don’t worry—you will still get enough in-depth information about the donor to make an informed decision.

Egg donors do not typically have a relationship with the family they donate to. Sometimes, an egg donor may wish to share their identity, and they are free to do so; in this case, we will release information about the donor to the family.

There is an Extensive Screening Process for All Egg Donors

To be an egg donor, a woman has to go through an extensive screening process that includes,

• Blood tests
• Drug testing
• Genetic disease testing
• Infectious disease testing
• Sonogram
• Psychological evaluation

What if you want to use a friend or family member? While you can choose your egg donor, they will still need to undergo the same screening and testing process to rule out genetic and infectious diseases.
