 Red tide hits Sarasota and Manatee Counties causing Rashes - Elsa may have contributed to this red tide presence and there is an increase in skin irritations and eye irritations as a result. It is generally recommended to avoid swimming in areas of red tide. If you think you have been exposed, try to wash your skin and clothes thoroughly. The red itchy rash can be typically treated with topical steroids and will usually resolve within a couple of weeks. If you have any neurologic symptoms, be sure to see your doctor promptly.
