Get Ready for Valentine’s Day with Juvederm

Valentine’s Day is coming up and many of our patients will be heading out with their significant others. Have you been thinking about Juvederm to plump your lips up for the 14th? We’ve put together a guide of everything you should know about Juvederm to assuage your fears.

Juvederm is a non-allergenic injection that works well on any patient. If you are looking to receive Juvederm before a big date on Valentine’s Day, we recommend you book your appointment to be at least 2 days before the 14th. The reason being, Juvederm needs time to settle.

Before you are scheduled to come in for your appointment, ask your doctor about the medications you are taking. It is advised to stop taking any medicines that could prolong periods of bleeding, such as aspirin or ibuprofen. To minimize any pain experienced, your doctor might apply a numbing agent. This can be administered via a dental block or topical anesthetic.

The process of receiving Juvederm injections is relatively quick, it takes approximately 10-15 minutes. It works by mimicking the body’s natural connective tissue material called hyaluronic acid. During the injections, you might feel mild pinching. The treatment will last for about 6-9 months, as it does not stop dramatically, but fades away over time.

As Juvederm is non-allergic, you should not experience any serious side effects. Rather, you might experience swelling, mild pain, and redness at the injection site. Typically, those side effects should last for about two days.
