Sedation Dentistry

We see nervous patients every day at Davis Dental Center, but thanks to sedation dentistry, we are able to help our patients experience an anxiety-free, relaxing appointment where a majority of dental procedures can be performed at one time. Dr. Rachel has been providing sedation for her patients for many years and is a member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. This means she spends extra time and effort to learn about the best ways to give her patients an exceptional experience so they can receive their necessary dental care without unnecessary stress. If even the thought of visiting the dentist makes you feel tense, be sure to call our office to see how one of the many forms of sedation can help ease your anxiety and help you achieve dental wellness.

Our office provides many different forms of sedation, from basic light sedation utilizing nitrous oxide (A.K.A. Laughing Gas), to Oral Conscious Sedation and IV Conscious Sedation, to a more advanced sedation with a nurse anesthetist. Currently we are partnered with G2 Anesthesia for general anesthesia at our office.

Sedation dentistry is a completely safe procedure that allows the patient to be completely comfortable and relaxed and lets dental professionals perform several dental procedures during the same visit, including:

  • basic fillings and bonding
  • same-day crowns
  • bridge construction
  • aesthetic veneer preparation and delivery
  • repairing chipped or damaged teeth
  • treating gum disease by performing deep cleanings and utilizing laser therapy
  • root canals (anterior and posterior teeth)
  • extractions (simple and surgical) with corresponding grafting options
  • implants, placement and restoration
  • whitening yellow or stained teeth

If you are interested in sedation dentistry, then the first step is to call the office and schedule an initial visit where our trained team and doctors will gather all the necessary information to come up with your personalized treatment plan. At this visit, our team will review your personalized treatment plan and different options for sedation and can schedule the sedation appointment that is right for you. The initial protocol is the same for Oral and IV conscious sedation, you will take a sedative the night before and the day of your appointment, and your companion will bring you to the office. Our team and doctors will access you upon arrival and set you up to monitor your vital throughout the whole procedure. Additional medications and if possible, an IV will be started, to complete the sedation appointment. With conscious sedation, you are still able to communicate with our team and follow basic commands, but you are sedated and very relaxed. Most patients with this form of sedation have some type of amnesia the next day and might only remember bits of their appointment. Sometimes treatment plans are multi-stage or steps and therefor multiple sedation appointments might be necessary.

If you prefer to be completely asleep throughout your dental procedure, then our nurse anesthetist group, G2 Anesthesia, will come to our office and perform Generalize Anesthesia for your benefit. Their team will coordinate with our team for scheduling and medical reviews. It is an easy process and a great way to get all your dental procedures completed at one visit.

If you have any questions about sedation dentistry at Davis Dental Center, please do not hesitate to call our office and speak to one of our trained team members about the process and scheduling your initial visit. We look forward to helping you with all your dental needs.
