Oral Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month?

Sadly, oral cancer has a high mortality rate because it is often detected late. Not because it is difficult to diagnose.

It's estimated that 50,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed every year with oral cancer, according to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Oral cancer is also twice as more commonly seen in men than in women.

Here are instructions for how you can perform an oral self exam every month. However, please consult your oral surgeon or dentist to help ensure early detection.
