The first major advance in the delivery of local anesthesia since the syringe was invented more than 150 years ago. This state-of-the-art system consists of two easy-to-use reliable components: a sterile disposable handpiece / needle set and a computer controlled drive unit. The computer controlled drive unit delivers precise pressure and volume ratios (flow rate) of anesthetic from standard cartridges and needles. Even in resilient tissue, such as the palate and periodontal ligament, the WAND delivers and anesthetic drip which precedes the needle, creating and anesthetic pathway. This combination of an anesthetic pathway and controlled flow rate results in a virtually imperceptible injection and a rapid and consistent onset of profound anesthesia. Injections are smooth and comfortable for the patient and dentist.
