A study conducted in New Zealand included 110 people who were at risk for COVID-19, but who had no confirmed cases of the disease. The study participants were prescribed a course of ivermectin 12 mg per day for 3 days. 62% of participants had an 85% reduction in the risk of COVID-19 infection, and 72% had a 90% reduction in the risk of developing a severe form of the disease.
Studies in mice and rats have shown that ivermectin is highly effective in preventing and treating COVID-19. Mice treated with ivermectin showed a lower number of infected cells and less pronounced symptoms of the disease.
Thus, studies confirm the effectiveness of ivermectin in the treatment and prevention of COVID-19. However, it should be noted that these studies have been conducted on a limited number of patients and animal models, and additional studies are needed to confirm the efficacy and safety of ivermectin in humans.
