Pediatric Plantar Warts

Plantar warts are more common in children than adults.  They are caused by a virus that gets into the skin and causes the skin to grow abnormally.  You can contract this condition by walking around barefoot, or touching other people’s warts.  The virus can spread easily to other areas of the foot, and even your hands if you’re not careful.  There are many treatment options for planter warts including topical medications, burning treatments, freezing treatments, excising the warts, and laser treatments.  It is important to be evaluated early before the lesions become larger and spread to multiple areas.

If  your child has a plantar wart, call our office for an appointment (often same day) today (816) 943-1111.
