What are Dental Bridges?
Many of our patients in Spring and Louetta, TX have come to Michael J. Morris, DDS to help bridge a gap in their smiles. Dental bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace a section of missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.
Dental Bridge Types
One type of dental bridge is a fixed dental bridge, these are bridges that cannot be removed. There are several types of fixed dental bridges, including
- conventional fixed bridges,
- cantilever bridges
- resin-bonded bridges.
Some dental bridges are removable and can be cleaned by the patient; other dental bridges need to be removed by our family & cosmetic dentist Dr. Michael J. Morris.
Porcelain, gold alloys, or combinations of materials are usually used to make bridge appliances. Appliances called implant bridges are attached to an area below the gum tissue or the bone.
