Enhance Your Smile with Dental Veneers

Get the smile you’ve always dreamed of having with dental veneers.

A smile is one of the first things that others notice about you. Consequently, if you are dealing with chips, cracks, gaps, or misshapen teeth,dental-veneers then you may be feeling less than confident in your appearance. Fortunately, our Columbus, GA, dentists, Dr. Phillip Tully III and Dr. W. Newton Sharp, offer dental veneers to hide these imperfections and to give you the smile you want.

Understanding Dental Veneers

Veneers are ultra-thin, yet durable, tooth-colored shells that are usually made from porcelain or composite resin. These shells are custom-made based on measurements taken of your teeth. From there, our Columbus, GA, cosmetic dentist will permanently adhere the veneers to the front of your teeth to hide imperfections.

Since veneers cover the entire front surface of your teeth, this means that they can easily hide a wide range of dental flaws, such as,

  • Cracks and chips
  • Unevenness
  • Malformed or misshapen teeth
  • Severe discolorations and dark stains
  • Gaps between teeth

Veneers can even make teeth appear longer, which is great for those who have dealt with teeth grinding in the past and are dealing with worn teeth now as a result. Besides changing the length, shape, and color of your teeth, veneers can also give you a straighter smile. While this won’t be able to give you the same results as orthodontic treatment, if you have a small gap between your front teeth or certain teeth overlap then veneers might be all you need to get a straight, beautiful smile.

The Process of Getting Dental Veneers

The process is very simple and straightforward, with most patients finalizing their veneers in just two visits. Here’s what to expect:

First visit: We will examine your teeth and take x-rays. After that, we can determine that you are right for veneers and begin to prep your teeth. To do this, we will shave a very small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. From there, we will take molds of your teeth to send them to a dental lab. Temporary veneers may also be placed during this time.

Second visit: Now that the dental lab has created your veneers, it’s time to have them fitted. We will temporarily apply them to check the fit and bite. If you are satisfied with the way your veneers look, we will also apply the dental resin and then harden it with a specialized light. One final polish is performed, and then your new smile is complete!
