Dr. Omer Akmal DDS, Periodontist

Dr. Akmal completed his bachelor’s in Psychology at The George Washington University . After which, he pursued his DDS degree at The Baltimore College of Dental Surgery . He continued on to earn a certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), where he learned advanced cosmetic and restorative procedures. During this time he found his passion for the surgical aspect of dentistry, and completed an additional 3 years of surgical training in Periodontics and Implant Surgery, at the University of Pittsburgh .

Dr. Akmal’s compassion and understanding of the fears and anxiety of a visit to the dentist in conjunction with his background in Psychology make him an excellent caregiver. He will put your fears at ease, and help you to understand the issues with your teeth, and how he will work to solve them. His approach to dentistry revolves around a strong relationship with his patients, a strong emphasis on patient understanding of their disease process, and active participation in their own treatment.

Dr. Akmal is an active member of  the American Academy of Periodontics (of which he is a Board Certified member). In his free time, Dr.Akmal enjoys exploring the various arts and food nooks around DC, football, soccer, travelling, and rock climbing.

Dr. Shutong Hartsell, DMD, FAGD

Dr. Hartsell completed her bachelor's in Chemistry and Mathematics at Duke University. She then pursued her DMD Degree at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with Honors in Clinical Dentistry and Community Health. 

Dr. Hartsell is passionate about providing the best comprehensive dental care to all of her patients. She is a very caring and humble dentist, who listens to her patient's concerns and ensures they are informed and involved throughout treatment. Her goal is to help everyone have their best smile.

Dr. Hartsell believes strongly in the value of continuing education. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Greater Washington Academy of Dental Studies. She has also completed all the rigorous requirements and achieved the fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.  In her free time, Dr. Hartsell enjoys cooking, gardening, Argentine Tango, and spending time with her friends and family.

Dr. Eric Lee, DDS

Dr. Lee committed early in his life to dentistry and completed the accelerated program at the University of the Pacific for his bachelor's in Biological Science and subsequently his DDS degree at the progressive U.O.P Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Wanting to further his education, he continued on to earn his certificate in General Practice Residency in New York designed for advanced clinical and didactic training in general dentistry with intensive hospital experience at the postdoctoral level.

Having had the privilege of being surrounded by excellent clinicians and experienced mentors, Dr. Lee has quickly learned to value transparent communication, efficient care, and gentle disposition. His approach to dentistry revolves around promoting a strong emphasis on understanding of disease process, prevention, and creating proactive treatment plans with his patients.

Dr. Lee is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Northern Virginia Dental Association who is consistently educating himself to adapt to the changing landscapes of dentistry. In his free time, he enjoys basketball, dance, and watches compelling TV shows and movies. 

Dr. Hanan Naser, DDS

Dr. Naser completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Temple University. She then pursued her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Naser further enhanced her knowledge and clinical skills by completing a general practice residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY where was awarded resident of the year. 

Dr. Naser considers herself passionate and determined in providing the best care to all her patients. She is dedicated in patient education, awareness and overall satisfaction of patients' dental needs. 

She is an active member of various state and national dental societies and stays up to date with continuing education. In her free time, Dr. Naser enjoys traveling the world experiencing different cultures and traditions, spending time with her family and friends, and watching movies and shows.  

Alejandra brings over 19 years of experience in the field of dentistry and a passion for patient care. She leads our team since 2013 and is an essential part of VDC Patient care.  Alejandra takes pride in helping patients with their dental care planning and financials. She is committed to ensure patients receive highest quality care and insurance benefits they deserve and paid for.

Her years of experience in all aspects of the dental office operation ensure that our patients get the best experience, most attention, and feel being part of our extended family.

Alejandra is a native to Virginia and lives with her husband and three lovely kids. She enjoys cooking, traveling, and family functions.
