The Dental Examination

While a comprehensive dental exam and cleaning are recommended twice-yearly for most adults and teens, some of our patients benefit from cleanings every three or four months. During your initial dental examination, our staff will take a full series of X-rays to properly visualize and diagnose the condition of your teeth, and bone.  Garden City Dental Care uses Digital X-rays which utilize a minimal amount of radiation, and  can be emailed to other dental specialists, and dental insurance companies as needed. 

Our patients receive a thorough examination of their teeth, gums, tongue, jaw, and neck.  We examine each tooth for cavities, plaque, calculus and periodontal pockets. An examination of your gums will detect if any gum disease is present or needs treatment. Your head, neck and jaw are examined to diagnose any possible issues with glands or joints, such as TMJ disorder. Our goal is to identify any oral health issues and treat small issues before they become more complex!

Comprehensive Dental Cleaning

After the comprehensive examination and evaluation, you will will receive a comprehensive cleaning, and customized home care instructions. A professional cleaning supplements the oral hygiene you maintain at home.

While it is recommended that adults brush at least twice per day and floss once  per day, many patients fall short of these ideals. There are many alternatives to traditional flossing, and we will help you find the products which suit you best!  A deep cleaning twice a year includes a fluoride polish, and a fluoride treatment may also be recommended to prevent cavities and protect teeth from decay.
