Special Care

Scheduling

Our office is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. If you or the person in your care has pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you the day that you call. Rest assured any patient needing dental clearance to begin medical treatments such as chemotherapy, transplant, or heart surgery will be given a priority appointment so that medical treatment may begin as quickly as possible. For your convenience, you will receive a phone call or an email to remind you of each dental appointment. When calling to schedule an appointment: In order for our team to coordinate the best possible care, you will be asked the following questions when calling to schedule an initial visit:

  • Patient’s name and date of birth
  • Patient’s medical condition(s)
  • Contact information
  • Any dental concerns
  • Insurance information (Please make sure you have all of your medical and dental insurance card(s) available.)

Once we have this necessary information, we will then schedule an initial visit that works best with your schedule.

X-Rays

If x-rays have been taken by a previous dentist within 6 months, you may request that they be forwarded to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick up the x-rays and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.

What to Expect at the First Visit:

Our goal is to provide comfortable, convenient, and compassionate care for all of our patients. We recognize that the patient needs vary, so we have first visit options based on those needs.

Customarily, an initial appointment will consist of an initial examination of the patient and a consultation to explain the diagnosis and treatment options. The doctor will go over the patient’s medical history, past dental experiences that may impact future care, and x-rays will be taken if possible.

Occasionally, it may be necessary for a caregiver to meet for an initial consultation to discuss various patient needs without having the patient present due to anxiety or other issues. If needed, a follow-up appointment can be made so that the patient can see the office, meet the staff, and begin to feel comfortable in this dental environment in preparation for future treatment.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of the consultation:

  • If the patient has medical or dental insurance, please bring both medical and dental insurance cards. This will save time and allow us to help process any claims.
  • A referral slip and any x-rays, if applicable.
  • If your previous dentist has taken recent x-rays (within 6 months), you may request that they be forwarded to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
  • A list of medications the patient is presently taking.
  • A list of the patient’s physicians and their contact information.

During the initial visit, the doctor will explain the diagnosis and discuss the treatment options with you and upon your approval, we will then schedule the patient for their treatment, whether it is at our office, a surgical center, or hospital.

Important:

When completing our new patient forms, please be thorough and provide an accurate health history and present all medical condition(s) in order for our office to provide the highest quality care in the safest manner.

A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 years of age at the consultation visit.
