Staff

Dr. Vekkos has been in practice since 1984.  Graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1982, Dr. Vekkos moved to the Midwest completing a two-year residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.  He served as the chief podiatric surgical resident during his second year.  After completing his education, Dr. Vekkos went into private practice and has developed a reputation in the Chicagoland area as a caring, experienced and accomplished podiatric physician and surgeon.  In private practice since 1984, Dr. Vekkos has established a very busy general podiatric practice with a keen interest in reconstructive surgery for foot and ankle deformities.  He has also developed an expertise with young athletes who participate in gymnastics, general sports such as soccer and basketball with high schoolers and club participants, as well as specialized endeavors such as ballet and dance.

Dr. Vekkos opened the Foot and Ankle Wellness Center in the Seven Bridges professional building complex in Woodridge Illinois.  The office is staffed by caring and knowledgeable professionals whose attitude directly reflects that of Dr. Vekkos.  They have established a friendly, welcoming atmosphere geared toward the entire family.  The office also boasts the latest advances in technology such as digital radiography, diagnostic ultrasonography, and electronic medical record keeping.

Dr. Vekkos is actively involved in the training of podiatric medical residents as a way of giving back to the profession that has supported him and his family for the years. He maintains staff privileges at Amita Bolingbrook Hospital, Edward Hospital, and Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora.  Dr. Vekkos is board certified in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery and Foot and Ankle Orthopedic Studies.  He is a fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American Podiatric Medicine and Orthopedics community.

Dr. Vekkos currently resides in Woodridge Illinois with his wife Cathy.  Dr. Vekkos and his wife have two daughters and have been blessed with two wonderful granddaughters with whom they spend as much time as possible.  Fishing and biking are his favorite past time activities
