Dr. William J. Weissinger, D.P.M., D.A.B.F.A.S.

Dr. William J. Weissinger was born and raised in the New York metropolitan area. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Notre Dame du Lac in Notre Dame, Indiana before attending medical school at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his internship and surgical residency at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and affiliated institutions.

Upon receiving his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree he was selected into the surgical residency program at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and affiliated institutions. He had special rotations at the Hospital for Joint Diseases on 125th Street in New York City,Peninsula Hospital Center in Far Rockaway, New York and the Foot Clinics of the City of New York.

After completing his formal surgical training, Doctor Weissinger was affiliated with numerous teaching programs. he was honored with an associate clinical professorshio through the New York College of Podiatric Medicine as well s the Iowa College of Podiatric Medicine. He was instrumental in the selection of qualified candidates as surgical residents through the residency selection committee and actively participated in the clinical and didactic instruction of surgical residents at Peninsula Hospital Center and Brooklyn Jewish Hospital (Now Interfaith Hospital) He has published many scientific articles regarding foot surgery and patient education.

Dr. Weissinger is BOARD CERTIFIED through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and routinely recertifies his credentials through qualifying examinations.

He has been a pioneer and leader in the field of Podiatric Surgery and was the Founder and Section Chief of Podiatric Surgery at Huntington Hospital (Northwell Health Systems) from 1991 to 2013. Also he served on numerous committees including: Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and Diabetes and others. He was the first physician to donate his time and surgical skills to many of our most needy patients free of charge at the Dolan Family Health Center in Greenlawn, New York during the time he served as Chief of Podiatric Surgery at Huntington Hospital/Northwell. Also, he is a surgical attending at Syosset Hospital(Northwell Health Systems) and actively participates as a podiatric surgeon, consultant and Medical Board Member at many nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities on Long Island. He has lectured numerous times to many community and professional organizations.

Doctor Weissinger is active in many philanthropic endeavors, alumni associations and was the President of the Huntington Rotary Club. During his tenure as president of the Huntington Rotary Club he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. This is the highest award a Rotarian can obtain. The motto of the Paul Harris Fellow is "SERVICE ABOVE SELF"
