Vicki Carr, M.D.

Dr. Carr completed dual training in Dermatology and Pediatrics. Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. She was the first in the country to complete a combined training program in Dermatology and Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

She was raised in Houston, Texas and attended college at the University of Texas at Austin. She attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was honored with membership in the AOA, the medical honor society. During her residency training, she was voted Best Resident by her peers, and was a resident member of the Camp Discovery Committee through the American Academy of Dermatology, where she volunteered for the children’s camp during her summers.

Dr. Carr’s interest is adult and pediatric dermatology as well as skin cancer surgery and cosmetics.

Dr. Carr enjoys baking, gardening, traveling and spending time with her husband and 2 kids.


Sonya Flowers, M.D.

Dr. Flowers graduated cum laude from the University of Houston before earning her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. She graduated with honors at the top of her class and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Flowers completed an internal medicine internship at Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center before serving her dermatology residency at Howard University. Additionally, Dr. Flowers completed a laser and cosmetic fellowship listed with the American Academy of Dermatology at Advanced Dermatology P.C. in New York and completed research in conjunction with the New Age Skin Research Foundation. Dr. Flowers interests are General Dermatology, Surgical Dermatology, Laser Surgery, and Cosmetics.

Dr. Flowers is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

Dr. Flowers enjoys traveling and spending time with her two children and her husband, who is also a physician.


Tarek Fakhouri, M.D.
MOHS Surgeon

Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri, is a Fellowship-Trained MOHS Surgeon, is board-certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and is a member of the American College of MOHS Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He specializes in the treatment of skin cancer and aesthetic reconstruction.

Dr Tarek M. Fakhouri attended Vanderbilt University for his undergraduate studies where he majored in economics and molecular biology and was inducted into the Omicron Delta Epsilon national economics honor society. After completing his masters in medical science, he received his doctorate in medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. During medical school he was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and graduated with high distinction.

He completed his internship in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he served as chief resident of his internship class and was awarded the Chief’s Award by the internal medicine department. Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri then completed his dermatology residency at Wayne State University Department of Dermatology.

Following residency, Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri completed a fellowship in procedural dermatology at Surgical Dermatology Group in Birmingham, where he performed and assisted in thousands of cases of MOHS Micrographic Surgery with advanced reconstructions. He has extensive training in a variety of cosmetic and laser procedures.

Dr. Fakhouri was director of MOHS surgery at Wayne State University’s Department of Dermatology. He provided MOHS surgery services for Wayne State University Physician Group’s network of 600 doctors as well as for our nation’s veterans at the John D. Dingell VA hospital in Detroit.

In his free time, he enjoys traveling, the outdoors, weight lifting, and obsessing over college football.


Jennifer Buffard, ARNP

Jennifer Buffard, ARNP, is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, specialized in general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Her approach to dermatology is patient-focused and evidenced-based. Although Jennifer has a wide-breadth of knowledge and experience in cosmetic procedures, she enjoys educating her patients and the local community on the basic and advanced disorders of the hair, skin, and nails.

Jennifer received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2006 from South University, followed by a Master’s in Nursing Science in 2009 from Florida Atlantic University. Additionally, Jennifer completed extensive dermatology training in general, surgical, and cosmetic procedures from a highly esteemed Professor in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami. Jennifer is nationally board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and a member of the National Academy of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners. She has lectured with the Melanoma Foundation and completed research studies on skin tightening and anti-aging devices.  Jennifer enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
