1. You have a loose tooth.

Periodontal disease can cause your teeth to become loose. If gum disease has caused loosening of your teeth, dental extractions may be required. 

2. You have a damaged tooth.

If you have a badly decayed tooth, your dental provider may try to fix it with a filling, crown, or other treatment. However, an extraction may be necessary if there is so much damage and decay that repairs aren't possible.
