Crown Lengthening

Sometimes there is an excess of gum tissue or bone, which can create treatment problems or aesthetic issues. One way to resolve this is through crown lengthening, in which Dr. Sazima removes the excess gum or bone to expose more of the tooth. This procedure is used to create a more stable base for a crown placement, and is also the most effective remedy for a “gummy” smile.

Crown lengthening is also used to address tooth decay or fractures below the gumline by exposing and making the tooth more accessible for further treatment.
