In-Office Nasal Procedures

As technologies continue to evolve, so do the options otolaryngologists have for managing the myriad health concerns presented by their patients. Minimally invasive procedures are among the leading new technologies that are making it possible to do in the office setting what was once only done in the operating room.

Now Offering Nitrous Oxide for In-Office Procedures

nitrouseal

What is Nitrouseal®?

Nitrouseal® is a premium nitrous inhalation analgesia system that is available for use in our medical setting without exposing medical personnel to the exhaled nitrous.

The Nitrouseal® system includes state-of-the-art all-digital Flowmeter technology with adjustable nitrous concentration for precise patient-dosage, FDA-cleared scavenging, and a patented disposable full-face mask and breathing circuit (tubing) invented by a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist to administer the inhaled nitrous/oxygen mixture and to then capture and eliminate the exhaled nitrous from the treatment area.

Nasal Airway Obstruction

VivAer

Many people with nasal obstruction experience difficulty breathing through their nose, habitual snoring, interrupted sleep and fatigue.

Nasal obstruction is often caused by an anatomical blockage in the nose, hindering airflow. As a result, you may feel congested or “stuffy.” Home remedies and medications may offer temporary relief. It’s only when your nasal airway is opened that you can expect to find real, lasting relief.

Common symptoms of nasal obstruction:

  • Trouble breathing through your nose
  • Nasal congestion
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Difficulty breathing during physical exertion

If you regularly experience difficulty breathing through your nose and nothing seems to help, you may have nasal obstruction. Until now, finding a long-term solution often meant surgery. Now, your physician may be able to offer you lasting relief without surgery by performing the VivAer® procedure to open your nasal airway.

RhinAer

Chronic rhinitis results in a persistently runny nose and often postnasal drip, congestion, coughing, itching, and sneezing. While some symptoms may be related to allergies, symptoms from chronic rhinitis may occur all year.

This challenging condition can negatively impact your life in countless ways. And trying to find an effective treatment can be frustrating. Like many, you may manage your symptoms using medications and sprays. Unfortunately, these treatments only provide temporary relief. It’s only when the root cause of your rhinitis is addressed that you can expect to find real, lasting relief.

Symptoms of chronic rhinitis include:

  • Persistently runny nose
  • Post-nasal drip
  • Nasal congestion
  • Itching and sneezing

If your nose is always runny, you may be one of the millions of people living with chronic rhinitis. Until now, treatment often meant managing symptoms with medications and sprays.

For many patients, these symptoms may be caused by abnormal signals in the nose. Now, your physician can offer you the RhinAer™ procedure to disrupt these signals and provide lasting relief without surgery.

Cryotherapy for Excessive Rhinorrhea

ClariFix

Chronic rhinitis is frequent inflammation of the nose with symptoms such as a runny nose, nasal congestion and post-nasal drip (mucus in the throat). But what causes it?

While the exact causes are unknown, out-of-balance nasal nerves play a contributing factor. The nerves in your nose transmit signals to your brain regulating all sorts of functions. When these nerves become hyperactive or out of balance, they send more signals than are necessary for the nose to perform its normal jobs, such as protecting the body from infectious agents. This can cause your nose to respond like it’s fighting an illness. The nasal linings will become inflamed (congestion) and mucus production will increase (runny nose), causing these annoying symptoms – even when you aren’t sick.

Chronic sinus infections

XprESS ENT dilation system

Millions of Americans suffer from sinusitis, and inflammation or swelling of the tissue lining in the sinuses that can prevent your sinuses from draining. Mucus and fluid buildup inside the sinuses can lead to sinus infection and more inflammation and pain. Symptoms include:

  • Facial Congestion/Fullness
  • Nasal Blockage
  • Nasal Discharge
  • Fever
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Dental Pain

Nasal congestion

Latera

LATERA® is an absorbable nasal implant used to support the upper and lower cartilage inside the lateral (side) wall of your nose. Supporting the cartilage may reduce nasal airway obstruction symptoms and help you breathe better.9,10 The implant is placed inside the nasal wall by an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat [ENT] specialist). Talk to your doctor to find out if LATERA could be right for you.

LATERA may help you breathe better with little risk of changes to appearance.  LATERA showed significant quality-of-life improvement for nasal obstruction patients with lateral wall or nasal valve collapse, as measured by the NOSE survey. Patients achieved these results without negative cosmetic effects.

A clinical study shows that LATERA patients demonstrate:

  • Reduced nasal congestion or stuffiness
  • Less trouble breathing through the nose
  • Improved ability to get enough air through the nose during exercise or exertion
  • Reduced nasal blockage or obstruction
  • Less trouble sleeping

Nasal Polyps

Sinuva

SINUVA is an innovative technology that reduces symptoms of nasal obstruction and congestion and nasal polyps with a 2-in-1 approach.

SINUVA is a nasal polyp treatment without surgery:

  • Delivered into the sinus cavity through the nasal opening during a routine office visit
  • Usually cannot be felt once it’s in place
  • Removed at 90 days or earlier at your doctor’s discretion

How well does SINUVA work?

SINUVA was studied in a clinical trial with 201 patients who received SINUVA and 99 patients who underwent a procedure as a placebo. All patients in the study were diagnosed with chronic sinusitis who had already undergone sinus surgery, but were candidates for revision surgery. Whether they received SINUVA or not, all patients were required to use a nasal spray daily that contained steroids.

SINUVA was proven to shrink nasal polyps and reduce symptoms of nasal obstruction and congestion for up to 90 days. Patients treated with SINUVA had reduced sinus obstruction, reported an improvement in their reduced sense of smell and were less likely to need repeat sinus surgery compared to patients that did not receive SINUVA.

Inflammation

Propel sinus stent

Minimally invasive sinusitis surgery is one of the most effective treatments for chronic sinusitis because the diseased or obstructive tissue is removed from the sinuses. But given the chronic nature of the condition, ongoing inflammation and scarring can threaten to block sinuses again. PROPEL can help decrease inflammation for longer-term relief.

PROPEL sinus stents are small, dissolvable and bio-compatible devices that are coated with an anti-inflammatory drug, mometasone furoate.  They are used by ENT (otolaryngology) surgeons to prop open the sinuses after sinus surgery and to locally deliver the corticosteroid mometasone furoate (MF).  PROPEL sinus stents are designed to dissolve over 30-45 days after being placed in a patient’s sinus after sinus surgery.

Propping open the sinus after sinus surgery is important because scarring and inflammation that are part of the normal healing process after sinus surgery can result in narrowing of the sinuses, which can cause problems after sinus surgery.
