Nasal congestion

Nasal Polyps

SINUVA is a nasal polyp treatment without surgery:

- Usually cannot be felt once it’s in place
- Removed at 90 days or earlier at your doctor’s discretion
How well does SINUVA work?
SINUVA was studied in a clinical trial with 201 patients who received SINUVA and 99 patients who underwent a procedure as a placebo. All patients in the study were diagnosed with chronic sinusitis who had already undergone sinus surgery, but were candidates for revision surgery. Whether they received SINUVA or not, all patients were required to use a nasal spray daily that contained steroids.
SINUVA was proven to shrink nasal polyps and reduce symptoms of nasal obstruction and congestion for up to 90 days. Patients treated with SINUVA had reduced sinus obstruction, reported an improvement in their reduced sense of smell and were less likely to need repeat sinus surgery compared to patients that did not receive SINUVA.
Inflammation
Minimally invasive sinusitis surgery is one of the most effective treatments for chronic sinusitis because the diseased or obstructive tissue is removed from the sinuses. But given the chronic nature of the condition, ongoing inflammation and scarring can threaten to block sinuses again. PROPEL can help decrease inflammation for longer-term relief.
PROPEL sinus stents are small, dissolvable and bio-compatible devices that are coated with an anti-inflammatory drug, mometasone furoate. They are used by ENT (otolaryngology) surgeons to prop open the sinuses after sinus surgery and to locally deliver the corticosteroid mometasone furoate (MF). PROPEL sinus stents are designed to dissolve over 30-45 days after being placed in a patient’s sinus after sinus surgery.
Propping open the sinus after sinus surgery is important because scarring and inflammation that are part of the normal healing process after sinus surgery can result in narrowing of the sinuses, which can cause problems after sinus surgery.
