Next Steps After an ADHD Screening

Children with ADHD often display an energetic and imaginative approach to life, though this can sometimes make everyday activities challenging. Imagine a child who is incredibly curious and has a zest for exploration. They might jump from one activity to another, leaving a trail of unfinished projects and toys. They may struggle to stay seated in class, constantly fidgeting or talking out of turn. Homework can become a battle as they find it hard to focus on tasks, leading to incomplete assignments and frustration.

These behaviors might indicate ADHD is present if they are persistent and interferes with daily life. For instance, if impulsiveness leads to frequent interruptions during conversations or your child doesn't consider consequences before acting, this might be a sign of ADHD. Challenges with organizing tasks, remembering instructions, and maintaining attention in various settings—school, home, or social—indicate ADHD.

The Maryland Children's Health Center offers specialized ADHD screenings that can provide clarity. ADHD screening in Glenn Dale or Oxon Hill, MD, observes behavior, gathers information from parents and teachers, and assesses how these behaviors impact life.

  • "I was in this place as a young girl. I wasn't bad but the people who had me in my family kept beating and raping me. I began to start running away. I had no one to protect me. I had gone in to Montrose medical place first. I was so scared but they kept me in medical until they could get me in the children's center.
My foster mom picked me up on Dec 2rth and bought me my first new coat. She and her family were so good to me.
There was a lasted at the children's center who have me a bible and looked after me mainly cause he knew I wasn't a bad girl there were just bad people hurting me."

  • "My daughters are 19 & 18 yrs old, they have been going here since they were toddlers also to the Oxon Hill location. I selected this practice because keeping your time off at work limited when u have children is important. Their office is opened until 7pm on certain nights. Which is great because a parent does not have to take time off of work with a doctor's office opened this late. There is never a long waiting time, service is prompt, friendly & kid happy!!! 😚😙"
