A long-term goal of dentists and patients alike has been to replace lost teeth with artificial ones that have the appearance and function of natural teeth.
Dental implants are titanium tooth replacements, in the shape of tooth roots, which are used to support dental restorations such as dentures, bridges, or individual crowns. Artificial teeth are thus solidly attached to bone, much in the way that natural teeth are attached by way of their roots.

Implant Procedure
Implants are not for everybody. For success, a patient must have a strong immune system and good bone density. The patient must also be dedicated to a discipline of excellent oral hygiene.
The first step of the implant procedure is surgery to implant the titanium “roots” into bone.
Next, it will take some time for bone tissue to build up around the implants and for them to become fully anchored.
And finally, the artificial tooth or teeth are attached.
