PODIATRIST STATES THAT MOST FOOT AND ANKLE PROBLEMS DO NOT REQUIRE SURGERY
posted: Nov. 25, 2017.
"Most foot problems do not result in surgery," says Mitch Hulbert, DPM, from Columbia St. Mary's, part of Ascension. "There are always other options that have to be catered to the patient. What are their goals, what are there levels of physical activity? Are you an elite athlete, or do you just want to walk without pain?"

"Arthritis, for example, is a common problem. All the joints in the foot and ankle are weight-bearing joints, so they have to take the stress of everyday life," says Dr. Hulbert. Your feet must last a lifetime, and most Americans log an amazing 75,000 miles on their feet by the time they reach age 50. "There are a lot of ways to treat arthritis, many of them not painful."
