"In the feet, we find [type 2 diabetes] patients with numbness, burning, and tingling," says Dr. Pinker. That's because diabetes can cause diabetic neuropathy, which is a type of nerve damage caused by high blood sugar levels. The good news? According to Pinker, "there are various ways to address diabetic peripheral neuropathy."
