PODIATRIST DISCUSSES FUNGAL INFECTIONS OF THE SKIN AND NAILS
posted: Jan. 12, 2020.
According to podiatrist Ivar Roth, DPM, MPH, “The most common conditions that arise from improper sanitation at spas are fungal infections of the skin and nails. The most difficult one to treat is fungal infections of the nails. Once the spores get under the nail, they are almost impossible to remove.”

“The initial signs and symptoms of fungal infections of the skin are little blisters. They weep, they’re itchy; however, the main problem is a widespread one – that is dry scaly skin on the feet. Another problem is fungal infections of the nails. They’re yellow, they're discolored and they’re thick – and patients are afraid to go out with them."
