Cavitron Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning

What Is Sound Dental Care?

The basis of sound dental care is routine customized cleaning and maintenance. This also includes regular check-ups for gum disease, oral cancer, restoration evaluation and finding decay. In problem areas we use prescription mouth rinses and medicated gels.

What Are Dental Sealants?

Dental sealants may be needed as part of a child’s total preventive dental care. Chewing surfaces like molars (back teeth) have the most decay so they may need a special plastic coating to be painted on the teeth as a protective shield.

Do Dental Sealants Require Drilling?

No, applying dental sealants does not require drilling or removing tooth structure. They are painted on cleaned teeth. They only last 5-10 years so they may need to be reapplied.

Should Fluoride Be Used?

Depending on what drinking water your children have available to them will determine if they will benefit from using additional fluoride products. This includes dietary supplements (for children who do not have adequate levels of fluoride in their drinking water), mouth rinses, and professionally applied gels and varnishes.

What Is A Cavitron?

Ultrasonic scalers are used to make the cleaning procedure more comfortable and effective. A Cavitron is a high frequency sound wave tooth used by our hygienists to clean teeth. The ultrasonic sound waves vibrate the dirt, tarter, and plaque off teeth. Although it kills pathogens which may cause periodontal disease, it doesn't remove all the calculus. No anesthesia is necessary, as teeth cleanings with the Cavitron are virtually pain-free.
