An online video visit is like an office visit, but it is performed remotely. In a video visit, you will be seeing your provider on your mobile device or your computer, from the convenience of your home. 

What types of appointments can I schedule as a video visit? 

Providers can assess symptoms, make a diagnosis, recommend treatment, and send prescriptions electronically to your pharmacy. Follow-up visits with a provider, post-operative appointments, and various dermatology issues such as acne, rash, rosacea, dry skin, and skin infections are all examples of visits that can be done by video chat. 

What can I expect when I schedule a video visit?

During a video visit, you will meet "live" with a Bardstown Dermatology provider via online video conference from your smartphone, laptop, or tablet. Patients will receive simple, step by step instructions after you book your visit. How can I prepare for my video visit? Prior to your appointment, you may log into your patient portal: https://morgan.ema.md/ema/Pati... and update your medical history and preferred pharmacy. Find a quiet place in your home with good lighting where you will have privacy. Make sure to allow access to your video and microphone so that your provider can hear and see you. We have found an iPhone or Android phone works best for the video conference as they are easy to manipulate and show the area of concern. 

Will I have to pay my copay for a video visit? 

Yes, you will receive an online bill for your co-payment following your video visit. 

How can I schedule a video visit? 

Please call 502-630-0599 to schedule a video appointment or a future in-office visit. 

Does a patient have to meet with a provider in-person before a visit can be conducted via video? 

No, the patient can have their first visit with the provider conducted via video. 

Will my insurance plan cover a video visit? 

Most major insurance plans cover video visits, also known as "telehealth visits". However, it is important to check with your insurance provider prior to your appointment. 

What about Medicare and Medicaid? 

Yes, Medicare will reimburse for video visits during the epidemic. 

How does a video visit work? 

Video visits currently take place via FaceTime (for iphone) and Google Duo (for Android phones), we can also schedule visits through GoToMeeting if a different format is needed. You will receive a phone call from one of our nurses prior to your scheduled telehealth appointment. Please be sure you leave a cell phone number or e-mail address where you can receive a video call.

Is the quality of care on a video visit the same as an in-person visit? 

The quality of telemedicine as a method of healthcare delivery is confirmed by decades of research and demonstrations. Telemedicine has been found to be a safe, cost-effective and convenient way to provide healthcare services, though many conditions do require an in-office visit. Additionally, video and audio quality may inhibit diagnosis. 

What if I need an appointment and I want to see a doctor in-person?
